There are many reasons to learn the English language… But does it matter? The answer is yes! Unless
you purposely want to cut yourself off from the world, you will be exposed no matter what happens in
your life to this language widely spoken internationally. For fun, through books, TV series, or using a
mobile application, during your studies, during your professional career … learning a foreign language
and thus developing your language skills is always a good idea.
English is the first foreign language to be mastered because it floods the Internet, is part of our daily
lives, is used as an official language for major international events, and is no more and no less THE
common language most widely used today in the world.
English is the official and common language internationally
As the English language is widely spoken around the world, it has become of crucial importance for traveling, studying, staying connected to the world around us (and to the many movies available on your favorite streaming platforms … yes, it is. much better in VOST) and for the majority of internationally oriented jobs.
Learning English is important for traveling
It is clear that the English language is not your mother tongue, but you do not need to be bilingual to travel to a foreign country. With a dictionary in your pocket, and after basic learning, going on an adventure (alone, with friends, or even with your family with your children) in an English-speaking, Asian, Hispanic country … will be just one formality for you.
English is important for studying
At school, college, high school, university … Throughout your school career, your brain will be required to assimilate many skills in the language of Shakespeare. Via university exchanges, books mostly in English (sometimes with very technical and specialized vocabulary depending on the field studied), stays in total immersion or even more and more internationally oriented training courses (an effective method of discovering yourself a little more as a student …), a good level of English is often required in higher education (and now in high school) to enter an establishment, or even obtain your diploma, although your training is not necessarily focused in English (business school, engineering school, etc.).
Stay connected to the world!
We all have in mind our references from the English-speaking world which, it must be admitted, flood the web: films, painting, television, music, science, politics… The connected world in which we live gives us easy access to American cultures. And British that influences our behavior and habits. Being fluent in English makes you more interested in them and helps your brain to feel closer to them.
